Missing from <br />photo: Richard Aildon (Hilo), Richard <br />DeSa (Hilo), Billy DeMello (Hilo), Mel <br />Hirayama (Hilo) and Richard Rodero <br />(Hilo). <br /> <br />The Hawaiian Pride Senior Softball Team, coached by Hilo's Danny Ayala, captured 1st place <br />in the 2007 Senior Softball USA's Winter World Championships and, 2nd place in the 2007 <br />Senior Softball USA's World Championship held in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Phoenix, Arizona <br />respectively. The team was seeded in the AAA Division, 65+ age bracket in both tourna- <br />ments. On January 9th, the Hawai`i County Council Vice Chairman, Angel Pilago presented <br />the team with a special certificate recognizing their accomplishments prior to the Council's <br />regular meeting in Hilo. <br /> <br />The thirteen players of the Hawaiian Pride team, including coach Danny Ayala, are also active <br />players of the Hawai`i Kupuna Softball League, coordinated by the C of H. P&R. Elderly Activi- <br />ties Division-Special Programs, which began their 2008 season on Saturday, Feb. 02, at vari- <br />ous fields around the island.
