REPORTS <br />A. Education <br />1. Urgent Services Directory <br />N. Kelly reported that the Prosecutors Office has an intern who is working on <br />updating the directory. She would like to bring a draft to the April meeting for <br />CSW members to review and make any revisions. <br /> <br />2. Equal Pay <br />No report. <br /> <br />B. Health <br />1. Community Reports <br />None. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Essay Contest – C. Kitaoka <br />C. Kitaoka brought up for discussion the possibility of having five categories for <br />grades 5-6, three categories for grades 7-8, three categories for grades 9-10, and <br />three categories for grades 11-12. Each grade category had at least 25 or more <br />entries except for grades 9-10 which had 10 entries. In addition, the second place <br />winner for grades 5-6 moved to the mainland. CSW members felt this winner should <br />still be awarded with the prize and be recognized in the program and booklet. <br /> <br />D. Pung expressed concerns about adding more winners to each grade category <br />because there will be problems if the committee keeps doing that every year. <br />K. Peters suggested that CSW discontinue with first, second, third, and fourth places <br />and have twelve finalists instead. The format can be changed next year and the <br />committee will have the discretion to divide the awards. N. Kelly said there should <br />be a set formula or guide so it’s consistent. <br /> <br />K. Peters said that Roger Thomas, manager at Target in Kona, has discretionary <br />funds on March 1 for gift cards so he suggested that the committee submit a <br />request. The manager said that corporate tends to focus on schools and non profit <br />agencies. D. Pung offered to check with the Hilo store. <br /> <br />C. Kitaoka stated that the awards luncheon will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012. <br />The date was changed from March 4 because the bids got started late and the hotel <br /> 2 <br /> <br />
