The location is undetermined at this time. Also, the bid for lunch is $30 <br />inclusive because it was impossible to get a quote for $25 inclusive. The bid <br />includes an additional cost for the ballroom, podium, and microphone. <br /> <br />After some discussion, C. Kitaoka moved that CSW add two more winners to the <br />5th/6th grade category with a $25 award and lunch. D. Downs seconded the motion. <br />The motion was passed. <br /> <br />D. Downs has volunteered to get donations from Big Island Candies for the “Real <br />Woman.” <br /> <br />B. Hawaii County Women’s Hall of Fame – Committee <br />D. Downs reported that she has not determined a date and she will pick up the <br />materials from J. Viernes today. She should have a plan and a date at the next <br />meeting. <br /> <br />K. Nova reminded D. Downs that she utilizes the committee to assist her with the <br />event instead of her doing everything herself. <br /> <br />C. Teen Dating Violence Prevention (DVD) – N. Kelly/C. Kitaoka <br />C. Kitaoka reported that Dr. Jill Murray is available from April 16-20, 2012. It will be <br />up to the schools to determine the dates. <br /> <br />N. Kelly said she would like to have Dr. J. Murray go to the Kohala Schools. <br /> <br />D. Mentoring – K. Peters <br />K. Peters reported that she, C. Kitaoka, K. Nova, and K. Schneider met to discuss <br />mentoring. They decided that they need to go to some key people in the schools <br />and ask them what the girls want. They would like to focus on young women who <br />don’t have parents who went to college. Those are more of the at risk group they <br />want to target. <br /> <br />C. Kitaoka said that she already spoke to a teacher at Konawaena High School and <br />she was excited about being a mentor and very interested in this project. Another <br />mentor is the coordinator of all the events at Konawaena High School. <br /> <br />K. Peters mentioned that she seen a commercial on upward bound and since they <br />are still in existence, then CSW can contact them to see what they need. K. Peters <br />said it doesn’t have to be some kind of event at a meeting room. It could even be <br />putting our resources and getting a list/directory to all the colleges or teachers who <br />work with these kinds of populations. More research needs to be done before <br />planning any kind of event. She would like to have a small project that is more <br />manageable. <br /> <br /> 3 <br /> <br />
