2012 Hawai`i Kupuna Softball and State Senior Softball Tournaments <br /> <br />The 38th Annual Hawai`i Kupuna Softball Tournament was held on July 11 & 12, 2012 at Makae`o- Old Airport <br />Complex in Kailua Kona. Twenty-one of the league's twenty-four teams participated in the two-day, three divi- <br />sion tournament. An opening ceremony attended by Mayor Billy Kenoi, P&R Director Robert Fitzgerald, and <br />other dignitaries and sponsors started the tournament at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Both days were <br />filled with many exciting games in all the divisions. On the final day, in the Division I championship game Kona <br />Gold defeated Honomu Rockets, 7-4. <br /> <br />The following are the final results for the 38th Annual Hawai`i Kupuna Softball Tournament: <br /> <br />Division I: <br />1st Place: Kona Gold <br />2nd Place: Honomu Rockets <br />3rd Place: Onomea Rangers <br />Sportsmanship: Kohala <br /> <br />Division II: <br />1st Place: Team Sports <br />2nd Place: Kui`kahi <br />3rd Place: Onipa`a <br />Sportsmanship: Hui O Na Kolohe <br /> <br />Division III: <br />1st Place: Waikea Seniors <br />2nd Place: Local Boyz <br />3rd Place: Pu`ukapu <br />Sportsmanship: Papa`ikou Aces <br /> <br /> <br />Other participating teams were: <br />Jackie Rey's Ohana Grill Ka Nani O Honoka`a <br />Hilo Pomaika`i Waimea Paniolo <br />Junk Yard Dogs Kupuna Pride <br />Pu`uwai Opio Kona Warriors <br />HK <br /> <br />Kupuna News 7 October-December 2012 <br /> <br />
