The new developments are pretty ugly and totally car - centered. Original Pahoa town has all the
charm and the great restaurants and are pedestrian- centered. Of course, there's the rub,
parking in the new areas is plentiful and parking in old Pahoa is limited, though there's always
somewhere to ditch the car.
Infrastructure issues
sidewalkks need to be leveled and fixed - unsafe, need more spruced up tourist friendly type
storefronts
We are good, Just give us parking & reasonable roads for good traffic flow. Ask Steve Sparks
about his plan fo a 2nd road thru old Town Pahoa.
all dependant on parking and access.
No public eating spots. Parking focused on fast -food franchises where you eat in the vehicle.
We are coming along! The new shopping centers are great. If there was more parking
downtown Pahoa, the downtown businesses would do better.
Parking is severely limiting business activity
No water available
need more infrastructure .... traffic lights /roundabouts, parking, and lighting.
Need the boardwalk repaired or redesigned to be safer while retaining its Pahoa style.
Need a public park /eating area where people can bring their leashed pets.
Miscellaneous
we need services that hire local people and not ship in outsiders to fill jobs
anti growth community
Development Page 12
