no more big box stores in Pahoa! Places like Ning's Thai Food and Luquin's, which are more local are better and healthier and add to the character of our community. 7 - 11 and other chains bring down the quality and make Pahoa an unattractive place for residents and visitors alike. i would prefer to not have fast food restaurants and more healthy food restaurants... no malls but more small stores on the side of the streets ...to keep the old style... Leave big box stores in Hilo /Kea'au, zone and install infrastructure for mom and pop stores, open markets. Create design district with no more fast food or convenience stores or strip malls It's so disappointing to see low- quality, uncreative franchise fast food places like KFC, Burger King, and L &L in Pahoa ... can't we do something local and original? Or at the very least something a bit nicer, if it has to be a franchise Don't want any more chains Would like to keep the unique -home town feeling of Pahoa Considering what we had in the 80's there is a large variety in such a small town. I only dislike the fast foods and chains. Getting better! Great to have so many restaurant choices in the village! Let's keep McDonald's and the rest OUT .... they have no business homogenizing the charm and cultural gem that is Pahoa! NO MCDONALDS - we do not need to be selling cheap junky food here in Puna. You can already get that at 7 -11, Burger King and KFC Poor choice in decisions for what is in our shopping centers. No one really asked the people what they like to have! Would like to see KTA -if we get McDonalds' -no Golden Arches No more fast food please. I like the local business emphasis - few franchises. Food prices @ Malama & Island Naturals too high - need competition too many places for people to get shitty food /safeway, KFC, taco bell and products (Longs) and isnt enough quality Development Page 4
