long's was much needed - DO NOT need KFC, burger king and the like. Bad for our community's
health no big shopping malls
no more commercial businesses
Increased need for services and business expansion
this area is making progress but prices are so much higher in Pahoa than going to Kea'au or
Hilo. Not much service sector visible in Pahoa.
Woodland Center has provided much needed local services.
We need a larger grocery store, a clothing /department store, doctors /dentists offices
Fair but getting better with the addition of Longs. Need a major supermarket closer than Keaau.
Malama Market is very limited in its merchandise; could expand to full service?
Need big box stores like WalMart or CostCo.
it would be nice to have a grocery store with less prices. Malama's prices are so high it's
discouraging to shop there.
The less we have to drive to Hilo for things, the better off we are. Longs is welcome, though I
don't care for the fast food joints at Woodland Center. Next we need a small mercantile for
clothing, shoes and such. Dining is doing good -- everything from very high end excellent
(Kaleo's) to L & L and Ethnic foods. We're fortunate.
would be nice to have a big KTA on the edge of town
There needs to be better home and garden stores. As it is, for anything but the most common
items, a trip to Keaau or Hilo is necessary.
Development Page 5
