KFC, Longs Drugs, and Burger King do not provide economic opportunity for the community
beyond minimum wage jobs and unhealthy food and cheap low quality products. We need to
do better for the legacy we leave to our community. We need to encourage high quality small
business development and discourage chains like Longs and KFC that diminish the quality of our
community health and environment.
Allowing Burger King, KFC and I understand McDonalds now near the post office into Pahoa is
sad. So NOT what the community needs. This does not support a healthy way of life and
development should foster a healthy way of life.
Mainland franchise chains like Burger King and KFC don't provide benefits and pay very low
wages to local residents
I have more than enough work personally, but many people have no job... We need farm coops
here for people to work and get food and sell the extra.
do only want to see forms of development that do not degrade environment like to see aid to
small businesses, not big chains
Employment and economic activity Page 7
