B- Small villages connected by bicycle paths built for pedestrians and non - motorized
vehicles
B- the building code forces the cost of home out of reach $244,000.00 is NOT
AFFORDABLE WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO OPT OUT AS A SMALLER HOME IS BETTER THAN
NO HOME
B- There are many nice houses in Pahoa, including many old ones that have been
maintained or have been lovingly renovated, eg the Konanui's house. Imagine
connecting some dots with older housing: using renovation of reparable homes and
deconstruction (vs the extremely disrespectful demolition) of homes beyond repair as a
means to train /educate for the buildng /construction trades, and at the same time
employ experienced, competent carpenters. Deconstruction vs demolition would also
reclaim some reusable materials, and at the same time prevent a lot of material going to
landfill.
B- There are too many houses which don't meet the county building code. Enforcement
is lax.
Elderly/ Senior Housing
E- Need elderly housing, variety housing,
E- need low income elderly housing
E- NO Low income Senior Housing
E- no senior housing
E- Pahoa needs more elderly housing
E- we need more elderly housing in pahoa, this really needs to improvement in this
area...
E- We need senior housing and or subsidized Housing out here.
E- Where is there any senior housing in Pahoa?
E- WOULD LIKE HOUSE FOR SENIORS
Homeless Shelters/ Housing
H- A funded and covered campsite would be nice for the occasionally homeless. People
could live in the houses that exist.
H- A homeless shelter /halfway house is sorely needed as well as access to more
frequent meal service and showers.
H- County Housing wonderful assistance to families but many homeless or can't afford
rents. (NOTE both "Fair" and "GOOD" were checked on the form. The lower value
"FAIR" was entered in field.)
H- homeless shelter
H- homeless shelter
H- i dont see any hornless shelters or battered womens shelters.
H- need homeless housing
Housing Page 2
