accidents happen & it isn't safe there the roads is just plain out crap the engineers do not even plan out the road plans correctly they should have put street lights to eliminate the numbers in car accidents and open up the road by aloha gas station to the main highway and make it a one way going straight into pahoa village to relieve the traffic coming into pahoa. Also they should have make a four way intersection with kaikai blvd The roads are excellent but should add stop lights especially malama area to avoid accidents The stop light by the high school is very dangerous. It needs to be re -timed so that the traffic does not get so backed up. The HAAS charter school road is very dangerous too. Cars passing other cars and sudden stops. The Malama Marketplace, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Burger King roads are the most dangerous streets I have ever seen in my life. They are not marked well, The curves and the turns are confusing to people who are not aware of the roads around there. There needs to be a stop light at that intersection. The roads need to be widened and painted to mark the lanes. The most dangerous thing is when cars cross from Kentucky Fried Chicken to Hawaiian Beaches and cross over the double line. Driving in Pahoa is very dangerous. the intersection by longs and malama shopping center and past that to Kahakai is horrible. It's unsafe, confusing, poor plannin! Malama intersection needs realignment. bviously we need a light @ the main entrance to town i.e. malama strip mall area Malama mart exit from 130 needs control. I could not believe there was not a stop light put at Kahakai when the new shopping area went in. So many traffic problems are there. the intersection coming into Pahoa by Malama Market is an accident waiting to happen. white poles are a distraction and the merge lain from Beaches onto the highway is scary. I also entrance into the newest development (fast food village and Longs) from the highway in both directions - being able to turn left off the highway into the development if you are coming from the Nanawale side of town.
