Pahoa Plan Survey results, "What I love about Pahoa".
November 12, 2012 by Vicki Stump, transportation committee
Old town feel:
• Old town feel, wish the buildings were maintained better.
• It's rustic; it's quiet for the most part, when the roads aren't being
painted.
• It's small, quaint, and unique & hasn't changed a lot like the
other islands.
• A few old style buildings, lend a historic charm to the area.
• It's nice to see police who are at ease enough to wave at citizens.
I enjoy the cultural events and of course the annual Christmas
parade!
• Sense of community feels strong; I like the quaint appearance of
much of the area.
• The old town is typical of the old Hawaii - people know you and
you know them.
• Rustic. Old town feel.
• Love the small town feel, and that there is no fast food. Keep
Pahoa small, but make it nicer.
• Love small town, people knowing each other.
• I like the charm of the old buildings, although they are falling
down and need restoration. I like that Pahoa is a one street town
and doesn't have too many shops.
• I love that regardless the economic situation Pahoa town is still
thriving. As much as I love the small town -feel there is definitely
some room for change and development.
• The small agricultural family owned & operated business.
• Unique Hawaiian village. The small town atmosphere and
attitude of the people. Small, funky, colorful and diverse. Old
school.
• Small town, great street of buildings.
• I love the laid back slower pace, no traffic lights, not
commercialized and over populated and run like most of America
and the so- called civilized world.
