• Love the feel of the Old Town. I would hate to see that change, Old Town has so many flavors. • I love that it has its character for the most part. It is laid back and friendly and I feel at home there. • Architecture. Pahoa has a small town feel. • I love the small town that it is; there is much creativity evident. The many cultures that interact here are great and usually welcoming. • Love its quirky, funky stores. It is a bit of history that I would like to see preserved- cleaned up a smidge, but preserved. • Board walks which need attention. Old style & friendly. • I LOVE that its two lanes, got to go slow pace, the wooden sidewalks, bright, old style, historic sugar cane village, feel and look, the overall laid back atmosphere. I appreciate the small businesses innovative sign designs and family atmosphere. I like the empty grass filled lots. They make it feel still like a village. • The old west charm. The funky nature of the place. • Emphasis on old plantation style town was always the plan. Keep it!! Less on ugly Kahakai (Blvd.) intersection. • Make commercial architect fit Hawaiian style. Old plantation style and wooden sidewalks. • I love the old buildings and some of the small local businesses. • Friendly place where you can step back in time to a more peaceful lifestyle. • Pahoa is so charming. I love the older plantation -style buildings. I love the color those buildings are painted with. The fact that it DOESN'T have a whole lot of stuff is part of its charm. • I like the small community feel. • The town has an attractive old section. Hopefully, the buildings owners appreciate that the quaint appearance draws visitors. • Old West look of the old part of town and the excellent restaurants. • FIX UP OLD TOWN PAHOA, REPAIR WOODEN SIDEWALKS & STREET LIGHTS. • Old wooden structures. The Akebono; needs landmark status and grants to support the arts. • I like the character of the town in the older section - colorful buildings & "Old West" style. It's a small town feel. • Sense of time and place not generally found in Hawaii. 12
