GOALS AND OBJECTIVES UPDATE: <br /> Chief Rosario reported visiting the Captain <br />Cook station last month. He tries to be out in the west side every week. Due to the <br />budget hearing, he was not able to have a face-to-face meeting with Council <br />Members. <br /> <br />HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION <br /> <br /> Recruitments <br /> Internal recruitments: The Fire Prevention Inspector I exam was held; two <br />passed. The Assessment Center will be scheduled. The Assessment Center <br />for Battalion Chief of Auxiliary Services was held, and selection will be made <br />by July 1. <br /> <br /> Open-competitive recruitments: The Accountant IV is pending interview and <br />selection. <br /> <br /> Labor Relations: A WSO arbitration hearing for termination has been scheduled. <br /> <br />EMERGENCY OPERATIONS DIVISION <br /> <br /> Operations: Off-duty training was suspended for non-mandatory training due to <br />budget constraints. They are working collaboratively with HCDA in the Makani <br />Pahili Drill regarding hurricane events. <br /> <br /> Special Operations <br /> Ocean Safety: Only three passed the performance assessment and interview <br />for the seven temporary WSO positions. They started their Jr. Lifeguard <br />sessions for Ka'u, Hilo, Puna, Hapuna, and Kona. The Big Island <br />Championships will be held at Hapuna on July 20 and the State <br />Championships will be held on Maui on July 27. The Hapuna tower was <br />installed fronting the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on May 8. <br /> <br /> <br /> Training: Fifteen recruits graduated from the 41st Fire Fighter Recruit class <br />graduated on May 8. The 42nd recruit class started on May 1 with thirteen <br />personnel. Captain Okinaka attended a Blue Card Command Inciden <br />Management class on Maui. The course is designed to better manage Type <br />4 and 5 incidents. <br /> <br /> Volunteer: Volunteer Fire Chief Krug reported that the Captains' Association <br />Meeting will be this Saturday at 10:00 at the Central Station. Topics for <br />discussion will be problems with pagers, mass incident procedure, traffic <br />control training, and fundraising. They are getting busier with months.
