RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION <br />OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />RULE 9 -RULES RELATING TO COUNTY-SPONSORED RECREATION SPORTS <br />PROGRAMS <br />Section 1Definitions <br />A.“County-sponsored league”shall mean a recreational district athletic <br />league or unit of organized competitive sporting activity that is under the <br />control of the County of Hawai‘i and that is funded in whole or in part by <br />the County of Hawai‘i. <br />B.“Director" shall mean the Director of the Department of Parks and <br />Recreation; County of Hawai‘i. <br />C.“Department" shall mean the Departmentof Parks and Recreation of the <br />County of Hawai‘i. <br />D."Sports Official”shall mean a person recognized by the Director as an <br />officiator of a County-sponsored sports game.Such sports officials may <br />be an independent contractor or a volunteer skilled in the knowledge and <br />application of the rules of play for the sport in which he officiates. <br />E."Sport" shall be defined as any organized athletic activity including but not <br />limited to badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, football, soccer, <br />softball, swimming, diving, track and field and volleyball. <br />F."Person with Disabilities" shall mean, with respect to an individual, a <br />physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major <br />life activities of such individual, a record of suchan impairment nor being <br />regarded as having such an impairment. <br />G.Service Animal” shall be defined by the current Americans with Disabilities <br />Act, Title II and Title III rules. <br />Section 2General Provisions -County-Sponsored Sports Leagues <br />A.Participant Eligibility <br />1.The Director shall be empowered to establish and enforce such <br />participant eligibility criteria as may be necessary for the safe and <br />efficient management of each County-sponsored sports league. <br />3 <br /> <br />
