<br />Hazel B. reported that Justin Brown would welcome a CSW ad in their robotics <br />program. The group is currently demonstrating prototypes that will be competing <br />later this year. <br /> <br />B. Civics education citizenship project <br /> <br />There will be an awards ceremony on January 22 for the winners of the poster <br />contest for the “American Democracy and the Rule of Law: Why Every Vote <br />Matters” calendars. The ceremony will begin at 3:45pm at the Governor’s Office. <br />DOE Superintendent Matayoshi and Governor Abercrombie will be presenting the <br />awards. <br /> <br />The Hawaii State Bar Association Civics Education committee assisted with <br />sponsoring airfare for the student winners from Hilo and Maui. <br /> <br />The posters will be displayed in the Capitol, then will visit each of the other <br />islands. The committee intends to do PSAs for newspaper and radio to announce <br />when the posters will be on each island. <br /> <br />C. Conference <br /> <br />The leadership conference committee met with the larger planning committee on <br />January 8 at Saffron’s in Waimea. The committee has decided to plan for a <br />conference in March 2015 to coincide with Women’s History Month. The <br />committee is working on identifying the target audience and specific theme for the <br />conference.
