COMMITTEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN Friday, February 14, 2014, 10:00 a.m. Convened at Waimea Center Suite 2C 65-1158 Mamalahoa Highway, Kamuela CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Carol Kitaoka at 10:12 a.m. ROLL CALL PRESENT EXCUSED Carol Kitaoka, Chair Hazel Beck Katie Nova, Vice-Chair Cyd Hoffeld Farrah-Marie Gomes, Secretary Elena Cabatu (ex-officio) Mele Spencer, Treasurer Kim Schneider Brooke Derby Margaret Masunaga (ex-officio) A quorum was present. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved as submitted. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes from the January 10, 2014 meeting were approved as submitted. TREASURER’S REPORT Treasurer’s Report by Accounting Codes, Treasurer’s Report by Function and Budget Fiscal Year 2014- 2015 were distributed. Treasurer’s Report approved as submitted. $5,000.00 for Teen Dating Violence Prevention Project from Council Member Dru Kanuha was added – total received $10,000.00. $1,500.00 is expected from Council Member Dennis Fresh Onishi. Still waiting to hear from Council Members Greggor Ilagan and Valerie Poindexter. Per Lee Lord funds can be used only for Teen Dating Violence Prevention Project. Breakdown by each council member funds is necessary as Prosecutor’s Office must report back to Council on how funds were spent. Carol reminded that expenses must be approved prior to spending. As Mitch has asked that CSW complete a contract with Jill Murray, Carol will contact Fiscal Office to do a contract with her. Dr. Murray came to Hawaii before so there should be a previous contract to follow. Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women will contribute $3,000.00 for Teen Dating Violence Prevention Project. Per Elena, work with Executive Director Cathy Betts to access funds. Mele pointed out that the 5% cut is reflected in FY2014-2015 budget. Further discussion is needed as the cut will make it difficult to get work done. 1
