Elena Cabatu reported that the final total is $1,238 which is less than the <br />$1,500 approved and is being processed. <br /> <br />In the coming year, the State Commission will be focused around the Year of <br />the Girl/Teen Girl so anything we can tie in to reaching out to teens, <br />especially teen girls would be great. Teen Dating Violence Prevention would <br />be something we could tap into funds there for. She will be sure that this is on <br />the Commission meeting agenda. <br /> <br />Hazel Beck asked if a reference change can be made to young women <br />versus girls. Elena Cabatu will bring it up at the commission meeting. <br /> <br />The teen prom did not go on but the State Commission was able to re- <br />appropriate $1,000 to the GLBT teens at the pride parade on July 6. This is <br />an outreach program which encompasses self-esteem, suicide prevention, <br />healthy relationships, and teen dating violence prevention. Cyd Hoffeld is <br />spearheading this education project. <br /> <br />The committee returned to the order of the agenda. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br />Lee Watanabe received a letter of resignation from Linda Ugalde which was read to the <br />committee. Equal Pay <br />No report <br /> <br />2. Urgent Services Directory <br />Nancy Kelly reported that there are still a lot of directories. We will <br />make a conscious effort to distribute so we can start updating the new <br />directory. <br />Lee Watanabe will send some to the Kona office. <br />Mele Spencer suggested that we distribute them at the Ladies Night <br />Out. <br /> <br />3. Voter Registration <br />Although Kim Schneider is in charge of this project, Carol Kitaoka <br />reported that a statewide program is being developed by the <br />Department of Education to educate high school students about voting <br />and registering.
