D. Committee Report <br /> <br />1. Networking <br />Farrah-Marie reported that the committee still needs to formally meet. <br />They will do a comprehensive report at the next meeting. The County <br />Committee on Persons with Disabilities has a facebook page so there <br />is a way for us to be on facebook. She will be contacting different <br />organizations/people to get pointers on how to create a website and <br />what the parameters are. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Funding Proposals <br /> <br />1. University of Hawai‘i Committee on the Status of Women Conference <br />Farrah-Marie reported that the Commission has three slots and with <br />Elena giving up her slot, we have four slots available. <br />The conference is on September 27, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. <br />at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa Campus Center. The conference <br />speakers are: Dr. Maenette Benham, Dr. Sunny Massad, Dr. Virginia <br />Pressler, Dr. Linda Johnsrud, Representative Colleen Hanabusa, and <br />Ms. Danene Lunn, owner of Manuhealii. The day will progress after <br />the speakers into focus groups. The 12 focus groups are: advocating <br />for self in the workplace, campus security, career and professional <br />development, compensation equity, equal employment opportunity, <br />family care, healthy care and healthy lifestyles, leadership skills and <br />growth, retirement, Title 9, working in male dominated fields and <br />workplace violence. Lunch is provided and no conference fees. The <br />only expense to the committee is the airfare and ground transportation. <br />Farrah-Marie will send Lee Watanabe the conference program. <br />It was suggested that we approve the people going and process an <br />RAE. <br />Farrah-Marie moved to approve four members of the committee to <br />attend the UH Women Conference on September 27. The four <br />members are: Hazel Beck, Katie Nova, Brooke Derby and Kim <br />Schneider. <br />Carol seconded the motion; motion passed. <br />Nancy moved to have the committee fund the airfares and same day <br />ground transportation for the four members to attend the University of <br />Hawai‘i Women’s Conference in September up to $1,000. <br />Mele seconded; motion passed. <br />Lee will submit an RAE for approval for the airfare. After the RAE is <br />approved, Lee will notify the members to make their reservations and <br />submit their receipts for reimbursement by June 30. <br /> <br />2. Hilo Ladies Night Out <br />Farrah-Marie Gomes moved to approve up to $200 in support of <br />operational expenses for Ladies Night Out as a reimbursement to Hui <br />Malama. <br />Hazel Beck seconded; motion passed. <br />4 <br /> <br />
