<br />139 <br />140 Denise Hart referred to a printout regarding Strategy 1.4: Promote <br />141 and Support a Community of Diversified Agriculture. She explained <br />142 that the goal is that the Kohala Community will produce 50% of the <br />143 food it consumes. She then read aloud from her printed out document, <br />144 asking that, “the Action Committee adopt a motion and pass it in <br />145 regards to this issue, and to work with this group and the County <br />146 Planning Department to amend the North Kohala Plan to reflect the <br />147 changes in time within the community and the State.” <br />148 <br />149 Discussion continued, and Rosalind Newlon explained that this is not <br />150 an action item, that this is a subcommittee report and there is no <br />151 motion to be made at this time. <br />152 <br />153 John Winter clarified that the subcommittee needs to do the proper <br />154 research and come forward with the background in order for there to <br />155 be discussion and action on this item. <br />156 <br />157 Denise Hart continued to speak regarding the research provided and <br />158 about protecting the agricultural lands. She reiterated that they have <br />159 asked for a motion. <br />160 <br />161 Discussion continued and it was explained that this was currently <br />162 only a subcommittee report, and is not an item for discussion or <br />163 action. John Winter per the guidance of Bennett Mark, announced a <br />164 one-minute recess. <br />165 <br />166 After the recess, Lani Eugenio continued her subcommittee report. <br />167 She explained that at the meeting they did research and prepared <br />168 petitions. Lani explained that they will be having a meeting next <br />169 Wednesday at 5:30 at the Senior Center for anyone who is interested. <br />170 <br />171 g.Historical and Cultural Preservation: Report by Faye Yates <br /> <br />172 <br />173 Faye Yates was not present to report. <br />174 <br />175 VI.STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br /> <br />176 <br />177 Discussion continued between members of the public and the Action <br />178 Committee regarding the agenda and medical marijuana in Kohala. <br />179 <br />180 Bobby Command spoke in the interest of moving forward, and proposed <br />181 that they meet afterwards to discuss putting together another meeting. <br />182 <br />183 An unnamed member of the public asked why they have to wait until <br />184 October to have a meeting regarding Pratt Rd.
