John also reported that they have been speaking <br />97 with the Department of Water Supply on ending the moratorium. He <br />98 explained that there won’t be a meeting about opening Pratt Road for <br />99 emergency bypass until October because the chair will be gone until <br />100 then. The Blue Zones Project is coming to Kohala, and they are talking <br />101 about more biking and walking opportunities. <br />102 <br />103 d.Power, View Planes, and Erosion Control: Report from Susan Fischer <br /> <br />104 <br />105 Susan reported that Paniolo Power representatives have asked to <br />106 meet with subcommittee members at Parker Ranch as Paniolo Power <br />107 reached out to ask community members for advice on the microgrid <br />108 concept for Kohala. <br />109 <br />110 Susan also discussed preserving view planes from Akoni Pule <br />111 Highway, the Kohala Shoreline Environmental Assessment, and <br />112 infiltration basins in Kailapa. <br />113 <br />114 It was also noted that meetings are coming up with State DOT Airport <br />115 engineers on erosion control efforts at Upolu Point. <br />116 <br />117 e.Affordable Housing: No updates. <br /> <br />118 <br />119 f.Agricultural Updates: Report by Lani Eugenio <br /> <br />120 <br />121 Lani reported on reorganizing efforts. She referred to a booklet that <br />122 she received that includes the names and contact information of local <br />123 farmers, whom she will be reaching out to. <br />124 <br />125 She explained that the main thing about promoting and supporting <br />126 the community of diversified agriculture and keeping Kohala Kohala, <br />127 is that the community would produce 50% of the food it consumes. <br />128 She explained that there has been major concern with a new <br />129 marijuana bill that was passed. Lani then distributed some materials <br />130 regarding this bill to the Action Committee and the members of the <br />131 public for review. <br />132 <br />133 Bobby Command explained that the bills or the law will be worked on <br />134 in the next legislature, and that it’s important that the members of the <br />135 public speak with their legislators and lawmakers. <br />136 <br />137 Keone explained that the governor has taken full control of this and <br />138 that he is the person the public should be sharing their thoughts with. <br /> <br /> <br />
