<br /> <br />WINDWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br /> <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br /> SEPTEMBER 3, 2015 <br /> <br /> PARADISE PARK BAPTIST CHURCH <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the application of <br />(SPP 14-163) <br />was called to order at 9:12 a.m. in the County of Hawai‘i Aupuni Center <br /> <br />Conference Room, 101 Pauahi Street, Hilo, Hawai‘i with Chairman Myles Miyasato presiding. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Myles Miyasato, Donn Dela Cruz, Gregory Henkel, Donald <br />Ikeda, and Raylene Moses. <br /> <br />ABSENT & EXCUSED: Charles Heaukulani. <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Duane Kanuha (Planning Director), Danny Patel (Deputy Corporation <br />Counsel for the Windward Planning Commission), Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager), <br />Jeff Darrow (Staff Planner), Christian Kay (Staff Planner), and Sarah Hata-Finley (Commission <br />Secretary). <br /> <br />And approximately 4 people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />APPLICANT:PARADISE PARK BAPTIST CHURCH (SPP 14-163) <br /> <br />Request to amend Special Permit No. 14-163 to include an adjoining 1-acre parcel (Parcel 124) <br />th <br />as part of the permit area to accommodate a new access from 24 Avenue that will allow for <br />termination of access to Kaloli Drive as required by Condition No. 3. Special Permit No. 14-163 <br />was approved to allow the establishment of a church and related improvements on approximately <br />one acre of land situated in the State Land Use Agricultural District. The properties are located <br />in Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision along the west side of Kaloli Drive between Naupaka <br />rdth <br />Avenue (23) and Ohe Avenue (24), approximately 1 mile from the Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road <br />intersection, Kea‘au, Puna, Hawai‘i, TMK: 1-5-038:123 & 124. <br /> <br />MIYASATO: Okay, Item No. 2, applicant Paradise Park Baptist Church. <br /> <br />DARROW: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Good morning members of the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />MIYASATO/MOSES/DELA CRUZ: Good morning. <br /> <br />DARROW: If I can direct your attention to our presentation. Again, this is for Paradise Park <br />Baptist Church. They’re requesting an amendment to their existing Special Permit No. 14-163. <br /> <br />The area of the subject application is within the Puna District of Hawaiʽi. More specifically, <br />we’re looking in the area of the Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision, which is in close proximity <br />to the Orchidland Subdivision. <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br />EXHIBIT B <br /> <br /> <br />
