We
also used a DVD from Easter Seals Project Action, A.C.C.E.S.S. Matters, which took
bus operators through various scenarios with passengers with disabilities. Waylen
Leopoldino from our Department of Human Resources also conducted Customer
Service training.

Multi-Modal Master Plan for Downtown Hilo
I attended a “Zoom In – Zoom Out” meeting for the Multi-Modal Master Plan for
Downtown Hilo. The need for more viable parking spaces to make downtown more
attractive to consumers and a shuttle bus for the downtown Hilo area was discussed.

8th Annual Municipal Attorneys Training Conference
I prepared and delivered a presentation on “The Legal Framework for Making Electronic
Information Accessible to Individuals with Disabilities” at the 8th Annual Municipal
Attorneys Training Conference last week at the Hapuna Beach Prince.
Dr. Larry Scadden, former chairperson of the Mayor’s Committee on People with
Disabilities, joined me to discuss the barriers that people with different disabilities
encounter in the virtual world.
4
