XI. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Sunshine Law Training — Renee Schoen <br />• Tabled until next meeting due to low attendance. <br />B. Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against <br />Women (CEDAW) <br />• Farrah provided update of Honolulu CEDAW bill that passed <br />second meeting; passed with 9 Yes and 0 No votes. CSW <br />members are encouraged to watch closely and to connect with <br />Hawaii County Council members if this is something the CSW is <br />interested in pursuing on this island. <br />• CSW members encouraged to search City & County of Honolulu <br />bill #65 to review current status and view all individuals who <br />provided testimony in favor of Bill #65. <br />Action: Farrah to pdf bill #65 to CSW for review and vote next month to take bill to <br />Hawaii County Council. <br />C. Domestic Violence Awareness Peace Walk & Vigil <br />• Kona peace walk and vigil will be held in Lanihau Center, <br />Friday, October 23 from 4pm-7pm. Hilo peace walk and vigil to <br />be held at Aupuni Center from 4pm-6pm on October 30. <br />• Due to the short timeline, if any CSW member wants a booth at <br />future events, contact the coordinator directly and send an open <br />invitation to all other CSW members. <br />• In future years, the CSW may want to participate in the <br />Veteran's Day parade. Timeline too short for this year. <br />• CSW has an opportunity to collaborate with Zonta and join <br />efforts as CSW plans to participate in next year's Zonta event <br />establishing a stronger presence of support and participation. <br />Action: Add agenda item to create a calendar to start tracking next year's events <br />that CSW is considering participating in. <br />Action: Add Hawaii Island Rural Health Association 15th Annual General <br />Membership Meeting to next month's agenda. <br />XII. ANNOUNCEMENTS (relating to CSW) <br />A. Congratulations to Mele who was elected District 9 Zonta International <br />Governor for the 2016-2018 term. As Zonta Governor, Mele will serve as <br />one of 31 Governors worldwide in the honorable leadership role. <br />B. Next Meeting will occur on November 20, 2015 via video conference. <br />XIII. ADJOURNMENT <br />Lee -Ann moved to adjourn the meeting, Jewel seconded.
