41 <br />The Motion was amended to include reference to the identification of Anaehoomalu <br />42 <br />Bay in the General Plan and the CDP Policy 5.1 and reads as follows: <br />43 <br />The South Kohala CDP Action Committee reviewed the request for the Special <br />44 <br />Management Area Use Permit Application (SMA-15-000061). In reviewing the <br />45 <br />request the South Kohala CDP, the Action Committee recommends that the Planning <br />46 <br />Director take into consideration or assure mauka/makai and lateral shoreline access, <br />47 <br />adequate preservation and protection of historic trails and anchialine ponds, setbacks <br />48 <br />to accommodate coastal erosion and sea level rising, that the General Plan has <br />49 <br />identified the Anaehoomalu Bay Area as a Natural Beauty Site, etc. This is based on <br />50 <br />the SKCDP General Policy No. 1.1, Preserve Cultural and Historic sites and <br />51 <br />structures; General Policy 2.2, Establish bicycle, pedestrian, and equestrian travel <br />52 <br />ways to link up the communities within the District (Waikoloa Village, Waimea, <br />53 <br />Puakō, Kawaihae and the resort nodes) while also establishing alternative travel ways <br />54 <br />with the individual communities (Appendix H); General Policy No. 5.1, Proposed <br />55 <br />uses of natural resources shall be duly evaluated by the responsible public entities to <br />56 <br />ensure that each such use is consistent with the sustainable long-term health of the <br />57 <br />eco-system, including the direct and indirect impact on coastal waters, General Policy <br />58 <br />No. 5.5, Preserve visually and environmentally important open space grasslands, <br />59 <br />ocean views, views of the puu, and South Kohala’s unique “Five Mountain Views: of <br />60 <br />the Kohala Mountains, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, Hualālai, and Haleakala; General <br />61 <br />Policy No. 5.12 Incorporate the concept of “Sustainability” as defined in the State of <br />62 <br />Hawai‘i “2050 Sustainability Plan” defines sustainability as a Hawai‘i that achieves <br />63 <br />the following: Respects the culture, character, beauty and history of our States’ Island <br />64 <br />communities.” <br />65 <br />The motion was passed unanimously. <br />66 STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC REGARDING ITEMS ON AGENDA <br />67 None. <br />68 ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />69 Next Meeting March 28, 2016 – Waimea – Lily Yoshimatsu Senior Center <br /> <br />70 ADJOURNMENT <br />71 The meeting was adjourned at 5:49 PM. <br />72 Respectively submitted by Deanne Bugado, Planning Department. <br />
