SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS <br />103 <br />104 <br />a. <br />Growth Management: No report. <br />105 <br />106 <br />b. <br />Public Access: Report by Kristen Dircks. <br />107 <br />108 <br />Kristen said that at their last meeting there were two guest speakers; <br />109 <br />one discussed the Niulii-Mahukona Cane railroad and whether it might <br />110 <br />be public access, and the other presentation was by Tom Pierce, who <br />111 <br />discussed the Haleakala Trail system and public access. <br />112 <br />113 <br />c. <br />Water, Parks, and Roads: Report by John Winter. <br />114 <br />115 <br />John Winter said the roof repairs of the Hisaoka Gym were finished and <br />116 <br />the Keokea lights were replaced. He said he was checking on the status <br />117 <br />of the Kamehameha lights. John also reported on the Pratt Road <br />118 <br />emergency bypass project and said that only a section of the road would <br />119 <br />probably be used as a bypass at any particular time if Akoni Pule <br />120 <br />Highway was closed, and that members of the subcommittee met with <br />121 <br />DOT staff, the Public Works director and HCCDA about Pratt Road. <br />122 <br />John further reported on the water supply project and said the DWS is <br />123 <br />working on the Halaula well property, <br />124 <br />125 <br />d. <br />Power, View Planes, and Erosion Control: Report by Susan Fischer. <br />126 <br />127 <br />Susan Fischer said that the subcommittee has also been helping with <br />128 <br />the Upolu soil erosion control project discussed earlier by the Kohala <br />129 <br />High School students. <br />130 <br />131 <br />Susan also said the subcommittee has been following the PUC meetings <br />132 <br />on alternative energy resources and the Kona landowner dispute over <br />133 <br />view plane protection.
