Puna offers a variety of public recreational areas, reflecting the beauty <br />Park developments. Kikala-Keokea, Isaac Hale Beach Park and Ahalanui <br />1 O <br />Aspirational <br />and diversity of the natural setting, and recreational programs for people of <br />Beach Park. <br />Policy <br />all ages and physical abilities that are not currently available. <br />b. There is an equitable dispersal of parks and recreation facilities readily <br />accessible to most Puna residents. <br />c. The development of future parks supports the growth management <br />goals, objectives and actions set forth in Section 3.1 of this plan. <br />3.5.3 b <br />Improve and expand Coastal Activity Areas as follows: <br />Pohoiki Swimming Area, safe swimming in Puna. <br />1 <br />A <br />County <br />2) Consider hand -developed modifications to the tidepools east of Pohoiki <br />Action <br />Bay beyond the area known as "Shacks" for use as "keiki pools", but retain <br />traditional fish -netting use. <br />3.5.3 c 3) <br />Improve and expand Community Parks as follows: <br />Increase park facilities for communities of Upper Puna, access to a <br />2 <br />A <br />County <br />3) Shipman (Kea'au) Regional Park: (1) Add interior fencing and rearrange <br />swimming pool in the Kea'au area Shipman Park or at the High School. <br />Action & <br />the parking layout to reduce safety hazard to children chasing balls; (2) <br />We need a pool. <br />Acquisition <br />Provide more shade, seating, and picnic tables for attendees at games and <br />events; (3) Add a large pavilion for team and family activities; (4) Develop <br />additional fields for football and baseball; (5) Provide additional lighting and <br />restrooms; and (6) Develop a new gym at Shipman Regional Park or acquire <br />the National Guard Armory for this use. <br />
