Hawaii Police Commission <br />Regular Session Minutes <br />December 8, 2016 <br />Page 2 <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />Commissioner Gomes motioned to meet in executive session to consider the hire of an <br />employee where consideration of matters affecting privacy will be involved and may consult <br />with Corporation Counsel on questions and issues pertaining to the commission's powers, <br />duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities pursuant to HRS 92-5 (a) (2) (4) and the Hawaii <br />County Charter Section 13-20 (b). Commissioner Buckman seconded, and it carried <br />unanimously. Executive Session convened at 9:20 a.m. <br />Regular session reconvened at 10:40 a.m. <br />APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF OF POLICE <br />Commissioner Gomes motioned to appoint Paul Ferreira as Chief of Police. Commissioner <br />Buckman seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />Paul Ferreira thanked the commission for having faith in him and said he will not let them or <br />the community down. <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />• Chair Schutte announced that the Police Commission's next monthly meeting will be on <br />December 16, 2016, 9:00 a.m., in the Aupuni Center Conference Room, 101 Pauahi St., <br />Hilo, Hawaii. <br />• Chair Schutte announced that Deputy Corporation Counsel Ho will conduct a brief <br />workshop on the Sunshine Law for board members following this meeting. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Vice Chair Morioka motioned to adjourn.
