• Resist, Insist, Persist and Enlist Cards were shared. Resist the <br />status quo on inequality and pay, Insist that we have pay equality, <br />Persist in the mission to carry out impactful project, Enlist women <br />and men to help make our communities to make Hawaii a better <br />place for all, especially women and girls. <br />• CSW will continue to explore the possibility of attending next <br />year's 2018 NACW conference in Los Angeles. <br />• Cyd gave out 100 cell phone cards. <br />Action Item: Mele will scan and disseminate information from the NACW. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />A. Teen Dating Violence <br />• Jewel and Deb discussed ideas for projects. Jewel learned that a <br />lot of human trafficking falls around "Romeo Pimp" who prey on <br />young teens who get caught in human trafficking rings. <br />Jewel will continue to talk with Deb about project ideas which <br />align with human trafficking theme. <br />ACTION: The project plan will be shared at the August 2017 meeting. <br />B. Real Women Essay Contest <br />• Committee formed last month and Farrah recommended that <br />someone else take lead on project. Farrah will reach out <br />Subcommittee consisted of Farrah, Lee -Ann, Tammy. Goal is to <br />send information to reach schools in early September 2017. <br />• December 2017 is a month to be more proactive in reaching out <br />with schools to follow up with Kona and Kohala Schools. Early <br />contact with teachers will provide time for teachers to work with <br />students. <br />• Deb volunteered to engage schools in Waikoloa, Honoka'a and <br />Kohala to provide additional support. <br />• Nomination of Committee made by Jewel and seconded by Mele. <br />Subcommittee consists of Farrah, Tammy, Lee -Ann, and Deb for <br />the 2018 Real Women Contest Essay Committee. <br />C. Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum <br />• Teri Bump speaking event was a success. Total attendees were <br />26 in Kona and 32 in Hilo. <br />• Positive feedback on evaluation forms were shared. Farrah <br />continuing to explore themes on evaluation forms. Majority of <br />themes fell into "women in business" <br />• Next workshop scheduled for October 2017. <br />D. CSW Brochure <br />• Farrah will provide update by August meeting. <br />
