C. Update on $910 is pending and will be explored and shared at next <br />month's meeting <br />D. Moved by Lee -Ann and seconded by Jewel to approve June 2017 <br />Treasurer's Report. <br />ACTION: Farrah will follow up with Lisa regarding $500 F.O.F. funds. <br />V. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC None. <br />VI. CORRESPONDENCE None. <br />VII. REPORTS <br />A. State CSW Liaison. <br />• On 12-16 of July, NACW conference in Buffalo, NY. Cyd attended <br />along with other CSW State and County members. 3 from State of <br />Hawaii including Executive Director (4 total) 2 CSW Kauai and 1 <br />CSW from Maui. <br />• Focus on 2017 NACW member was to focus on best practices for <br />all Committees on the Status of Women. Approximately 30 <br />attended in Buffalo, NY. Topics of focus included women's <br />suffrage, crisis management, first women's architect (woman from <br />Buffalo), healthcare specific to women's health. <br />• Message at NACW focused on encouraging women to be in <br />politics locally and in government positions to participate in the <br />decision-making process to enact changes at the Local, State and <br />National levels. <br />• Ms. Nguyen spoke about her personal experience of abuse and at <br />the motivation to draft a bill to protect rape victims. She also <br />spoke about the Bill of Rights for rape victims she initiated and <br />took to Congress. <br />• 2018 NACW Conference will be hosted in Los Angeles. <br />• Jewel and Cyd attended human trafficking conference. Homeland <br />Security provided materials on human trafficking to conference <br />attendees. Information on human rights were shared to <br />conference attendees. <br />• A suggestion was made to include local police and social workers <br />to participate in the human trafficking conference next year to <br />share more specific information and data throughout Hawaii State <br />and Counties. <br />• A suggestion was made to have newspaper articles showcase the <br />status of human trafficking to create awareness of what is <br />happening in our communities. <br />• Suggestion was made for CSW members to regroup and draft a <br />public service memo as a project under the CSW Human <br />Trafficking Sub -Committee (Mete, Jewel, Lee -Ann, Brooke). <br />2 <br />
