PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION: 1. General Plan Update: Members from the Planning Departments Long Range Division and the Dept. of Research & Developments Deputy Director provided the Action Committee an overview of the General Plan Comprehensive Review and its relationship to the South Kohala CDP. Action Committee members and members of the public asked questions of the team and engaged in discussion. Topics discussed include: priorities and implementation procedures, Capital Improvement Program, energy, and collaboration between the Action Committees. Additional information on the General Plan Comprehensive Review, including resource documents can be found on the County of Hawaii Planning Department website: http://www.cohplanningdept.com/general-plan/. The Action Committee calendared a special meeting on June 26, 2017 to explore scenario planning and how it's being used to inform the General Plan Comprehensive Review. Steering committee members discussed Action Committee Members tenure and upcoming openings on the committee. Ms. Surprenant confirmed that Planning Department staff will assist with committee member recruitment. 3. Steering committee members discussed bringing Action Committee Chairpersons from other CDPs to collaborate and discuss their CDPs and General Plan. BUSINESS OF COMMITTEE: 1. John Mueller requested information from Action Committee Members to show the needs and concerns that their community wants to prioritize. This information will demonstrate whether to conduct monthly meetings, or every other month. He expressed that this information will help determine meeting agenda schedule and content. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC REGARDING ITEMS ON THE AGENDA: None ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. The next Special Meeting of the South Kohala Action Committee is scheduled for June 26, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. at the Waikoloa Village Association Community Room. This meeting will discuss the General Plan Comprehensive Review. 2. The next regular meeting of the South Kohala Action Committee is scheduled for July 24, 2017 in Waimea at the Lily Yoshimatsu Senior Center (Waimea Senior Center). ADJOURNMENT: Committee Member Jojo Tanimoto moved to adjourn the meeting. Second by Julia Ann Alos. Motion passed with 5 votes aye, and 0 votes nay.
