HAWAII FIRE COMMISSION <br />REGULAR SESSION MINUTES <br />AUGUST 9, 2017 <br />WEST HAWAII CIVIC CENTER <br />KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Becker called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Robert Becker, Chair <br />Scott Susman, Vice Chair <br />David De Luz, Jr., Commissioner <br />Denise Laitinen, Commissioner <br />Donna Payesko, Commissioner <br />Marcella St. Ambrogio, Commissioner <br />Ralph Yawata, Commissioner <br />Absent: Mapuana Waipa, Commissioner <br />A quorum was present. <br />Also Present: Darren Rosario, Fire Chief <br />John Bertsch, Volunteer Commander <br />Jessica Yeh, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Josie Pelayo, Secretary <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Vice Chair Susman motioned to approve the agenda. Commissioner St. Ambrogio <br />seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS (None.) <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JULY 10, 2017 <br />• Regular Session Minutes: Commissioner St. Ambrogio motioned to approve the <br />minutes. Vice Chair Susman seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />• Executive Session Minutes: Vice Chair Susman motioned to approve the minutes. <br />Commission De Luz seconded. Discussion: A short discussion was held to clarify <br />what was said at the meeting. An amendment was made for clarity. The motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />FIRE CHIEF'S REPORT <br />Chief Rosario highlighted items on his written report: <br />• Budget and Finance <br />➢ FY 2016/17: The final balance of 2.87% was returned to the General Fund. <br />
