Communication No. 2018-02 <br />b. A sampling of the project plans were disseminated to the meeting attendees. The <br />packet will be attached to the meeting minutes. <br />c. The Chair shared with the committee the plans and specific areas of concerns that <br />were discussed with the project planners. <br />d. Prior to the meeting, the Chair spoke with the engineer assigned to the project, <br />Casey Yanigihara, and DPW Information and Education Specialist, Barret Otani. The <br />following issues with the plans were brought to their attention. <br />i. Lack of community input <br />ii. Lack of bike lanes or bike routes <br />iii. Dangerous trees that will be further encroached upon <br />iv. Safety at Mud Lane pedestrian crosswalk <br />v. Drainage <br />vi. Utility lines and poles <br />vii. Failing road between build out areas <br />viii. Potential misuse of long center turning lane <br />e. The recent lowest bid was under the projected cost by about $6 million. The <br />previously mentioned issues could be addressed if the project costs are that far off <br />base. <br />f. The recent bidding for the project was completed, but was canceled due to some <br />differences in clerical work and the method it was presented to the interested <br />parties. A second round of bidding will begin again late in November. <br />g. Entire plans for the project may be attained from the Chair upon request. <br />Announcements: <br />1. Next meeting will begin at 4pm on January 9t" in the Waimea Civic Center Conference Room. <br />2.
