Communication No. 2018-02 b. A sampling of the project plans were disseminated to the meeting attendees. The packet will be attached to the meeting minutes. c. The Chair shared with the committee the plans and specific areas of concerns that were discussed with the project planners. d. Prior to the meeting, the Chair spoke with the engineer assigned to the project, Casey Yanigihara, and DPW Information and Education Specialist, Barret Otani. The following issues with the plans were brought to their attention. i. Lack of community input ii. Lack of bike lanes or bike routes iii. Dangerous trees that will be further encroached upon iv. Safety at Mud Lane pedestrian crosswalk v. Drainage vi. Utility lines and poles vii. Failing road between build out areas viii. Potential misuse of long center turning lane e. The recent lowest bid was under the projected cost by about $6 million. The previously mentioned issues could be addressed if the project costs are that far off base. f. The recent bidding for the project was completed, but was canceled due to some differences in clerical work and the method it was presented to the interested parties. A second round of bidding will begin again late in November. g. Entire plans for the project may be attained from the Chair upon request. Announcements: 1. Next meeting will begin at 4pm on January 9t" in the Waimea Civic Center Conference Room. 2. Officer elections will be held at the next committee meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 5:12 pm.
