Fax (808) 323-4440 <br />December 28, 2017 <br />Ms. Noe Noe Wong -Wilson, PhD. <br />Executive Director <br />Lalakea Foundation <br />2106 Kawiki road <br />Hilo, HI 96720 <br />Dear Ms. Wong -Wilson, <br />RE: 2018 Ka `Aha Hula `O Halauaola <br />Thank you for providing me with a copy of Lalakea Foundation's letter to Hawaii <br />County Council Members dated November 16, 2017, requesting their financial support <br />for the upcoming 2018 Ka `Aha Hula `O Halauaola. <br />I understand that Council Member Maile David plans to provide funding, and <br />pending approval of the full Council, the funds will be routed through the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation for contracting with Lalakea Foundation. <br />The Department of Parks and Recreation has agreed to work closely with <br />Lalakea Foundation to assure that the Edith Kanaka'ole Tennis Stadium is available for <br />the planned event June 14-23, 2018. <br />On behalf of the County, I would like to thank the Lalakea Foundation for its <br />continued support and advancement of the perpetuation of Native Hawaiian arts and <br />spiritual practices.
