Ironman uses vans with medical personnel in them to assist <br /> racers. If it is an emergency, they call 911. <br /> • The event should have a medical tent with paid medical personnel at the <br /> finish line to treat any minor athlete injuries/medical conditions. Post-race <br /> requirements include treating athletes for dehydration. <br /> • The event area for the bike and run is many miles away from 911 <br /> services. The closest would be Pohakuloa Training Area Fire at the Army <br /> base so they should be looped in the communication. <br /> 3. Hawaii County Police Department: <br /> • The event needs to provide a comprehensive traffic plan to Police. <br /> • The event needs to hire one or more special duty officers, to direct traffic <br /> at the main intersections on the Queen Kaahumanu Highway, Highway <br /> 190 and at Saddle Road and Komohana Street. <br /> Please find attached a list of each agency, point of contact, phone numbers and <br /> email addresses. <br /> It is recommended that Alohaman seek the professional services of an on-island <br /> race coordinator or event planner to support the process of applying for and securing <br /> permits, communicating with agencies and the impacted communities, and to carry out <br /> necessary on-island logistics. <br /> On behalf of the County, I would like to thank the Alohaman Extreme Triathlon for <br /> considering our island and we support your efforts to produce a successful event. <br /> Aloha and best wishes, <br /> Harry Com, <br /> Mayor <br /> County of Hawai i is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />
