Spanky's Bar & Grill LLC, dba Spanky's Bar & Grill, pursuant to Rule
4-2-M of the Rules and Regulations of the Liquor Commissioner of the
Department of Liquor Control of the County of Hawaii, requests
permission to extend the time issuance of its Temporary Dispenser
General liquor license, Category B1 and D, located at 750 Kinoble Street,
Hilo, Hawaii, for an additional six months from January 6, 2018, to and
including May 5, 2018, by letter dated and received January 2, 2018,
approved by Director Gerald Takase on January 3, 2018.
Nahale-a: Mr. Chair, I would like to make a motion that the Commission finds good
cause to extend and approve the request to extend the issuance of Spanky's
Temporary Dispenser General liquor license, Category B1 and D, for an additional six
months.
Greenwell: Second.
Ms. Nahale-a moved that the Commission finds good cause to
extend and approve the request submitted by Spanky's Bar & Grill,
for permission to extend the time issuance of its Temporary
Dispenser General liquor license, Category B1 and D, located at
750 Kino`ole Street, Hilo, Hawaii, for an additional six months from
January 6, 2018, to and including May 5, 2018, by letter dated and
received January 2, 2018, approved by Director Gerald Takase on
January 3, 2018; seconded by Mr. Greenwell.
Greenwell: What are the dates that this is going to be extended to? Originally, they
were asking for six months and that was mathematically only about five months and
now I see these dates are lined out. What are we looking for as far as dates?
Takase: Let me back up and tell you what the "good cause" is. We approved Spanky's
a while ago and their six months ran out on January 6, so we were going to extend them
out to May of this year. The reason being is that as they were going through their
inspection process, they have to do their electrical which was news to them and news to
us because it has been operating as a bar for the last several years. Apparently, the
person who owns it is a contractor. But they're trying to do their electrical wiring and
FEBRUARY 1, 2018 -LIQUOR COMMISSION MINUTES 18
