Puna CDP 2017-18 Priorities <br />Priority #4 — Preserving Native Ecosystems <br />Preserving native ecosystems is critical in the fastest growing district in Hawai'i County. Development is <br />occurring at a rapid pace and native forests are giving way to housing and development on a daily basis. <br />Objective 2.2.2b of the PCDP calls for several action strategies to protect the increasingly threatened forests <br />of Puna. <br />OBJECTIVE 2.2.2B <br />Adopt regulatory measures, educational programs and incentives to preserve remnants of native ecosystems <br />in Puna subdivisions, especially remnants at lower elevations. <br />Current Status: Building in Puna brochure is being reviewed by the Planning Dept. and Corporation Counsel.
