Puna CDP 2017-18 Priorities <br />Priority #3 — Internet Connectivity <br />Puna is in dire need of reliable and affordable internet connectivity. Lack of infrastructure inhibits <br />opportunity in Puna. Action items 3.4.3c and 4.1.3c speak to the need of internet connectivity that could <br />provide economic and employment opportunities for Puna residents. <br />ACTION 3.4.3c <br />Promote #-ee wireless internet services to Puna's subdivisions, starting with those that lack cable service. <br />ACTION 4.1.3c <br />Facilitate telecommuting by developing a wireless communications network that enables most Puna residents <br />to gain free access to the internet. <br />Current Status: Hawaiian Telcom receives Connect America Fund support over a six-year period that will total $26M in <br />2020.
