The attached letter from Police Chief Paul Ferreira was sent to you on February 16, 2018 regarding matters of the Police Department. Regarding the existing well in HOVE, the well was designed and constructed in accordance with the Hawai'i Well Construction and Pump Installation Standards and the water does meet the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The HOVE Water Quality Report is attached and can also be found online at www.hawaiidws.orq Currently, the Department of Water Supply (DWS) is working with a consultant to utilize a State Appropriation for a study regarding source development in the Ocean View area. At a community meeting held in March, 2017, DWS took feedback that there is a need for an additional well site that preferable would improve the quality of the water and to provide water for the business area. Due to the geography of Ocean View, it has prompted DWS' hydrologist to investigate areas outside of Ocean View such as Manuka Natural Forest Reserve and South Kona for a better water source.
