HAWAII POLICE COMMISSION <br />REGULAR SESSION MINUTES <br />MAY 18, 2018 <br />WEST HAWAII CIVIC CENTER, BUILDING G CONFERENCE ROOM <br />74-5044 ANE KEOHOKALOLE HIGHWAY, KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Hendricks called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Peter Hendricks, Chair <br />Wayne De Luz, Vice Chair <br />Carl Carlson, Commissioner <br />Jak Hu, Commissioner <br />Paul Paiva, Commissioner <br />Colleen Pasco, Commissioner <br />Absent: Arthur Buckman, Commissioner <br />(A quorum was present.) <br />Also present: Paul Ferreira, Police Chief <br />Kenneth Bugado, Deputy Chief <br />James O'Connor, Assistant Chief <br />Burt Shimabukuro, Captain <br />Malia Hall, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Josie Pelayo, Secretary <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Commissioner Paiva motioned to approve the agenda. Commissioner Carlson <br />seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS (None.) <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />April 20, 2018, regular and executive sessions: Commissioner Paiva motioned to <br />approve the regular and executive session minutes of April 20, 2018. Commissioner <br />Carlson seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />• State of Hawaii Police Commissioners' Conference (update): Chair Hendricks <br />reported that everything for the conference is set, and the speakers are in place. <br />• Review of the Police Commission's Rules and Regulations for possible revisions: Ms. <br />Hall distributed the revision to Rule 6 which she patterned after the Maui Police <br />Commission's rules. She explained that she wanted to simplify it by keeping the 90 - <br />day deadline and not hearing anything after 90 days. Commissioners Paiva and Hu <br />
