Page 10
date where each party can open renegotiations, and
it ' s based upon the contract expiring.
Right now, all of our collective bargaining rr
agreements are scheduled to expire on June 30, 2017 .
So we are in negotiations with all of the bargaining
units with the exception of police, they start
sometime in October. But during that process, besides
the different articles or sections in the collective
bargaining agreement, wages and salaries are a focus
piece for most of the bargaining units . So that
negotiation process involves employer putting forth
their proposals, union putting forth their proposals
so they can come to some agreement on each of the
proposals . And if we are unable to resolve, we would
typically submit to interest arbitration, and that, in
itself, is another process . The arbitrator would then
render a decision. We will take that decision
forward to the counsel for funding, and once funded,
we then execute the decision.
I hope that summarizes it, but if there is a
question in there that I can be more specific to,
please let me know.
MS . LASSITER: Do you people have any
questions for her?
MR. ONO: I do not .
A
ISLAND COURT REPORTING & TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES
(808) 933-9800
