MASUDA: Corporation counsel.
MR. BRILHANTE: Just to clarify the record,
in your capacity, Salary Commission doesn't have the
authority to set the pay for the deputy corporation
counsel. What happens is pursuant to the language in
the Charter, the Salary Commission sets the salary for
the head prosecutor, Mitch, and the head corporation
counsel, Joe Kamelamela, and then the first assistant
prosecutor, Dale Roth, and the assistant corporation
counsel, Renee Schoen. So, you set those salaries. But
per Charter, the deputies can make a salary no greater
than 90 percent of the prosecutor or the corporation
counsel.
So what happens is there's that domino
effect, you know. If the prosecutor/head corporation
counsel's salary doesn't change, then there's no room
for the deputies' salaries to change. So that's what
Mr. Masuda is addressing.
MR. FRATINARDO: Can I make a comment?
CHR. ONO: Yeah, go ahead, Thomas.
MR.
