The spirit of the Charter, of the law, that <br />3 establishes us as the commission that makes these <br />4 salary adjustments, <br />I'm <br />just <br />concerned <br />that there's no <br />5 conflict between -- <br />that <br />the <br />spirit of <br />the law isn't <br />6 being violated. Aren't we here because they want to <br />7 keep that in the political realm so it doesn't have <br />8 that good old boy sense? That's my impression. <br />9 And then, through the letter we received from <br />10 Pat Sexton, there was some mention about this <br />11 jurisdiction on the mainland and how they gave <br />12 themselves all of these pay raises and how they were <br />13 subsequently prosecuted. I'm familiar with that. But <br />14 just to kind of paint this picture of us as these <br />15 outlaws; and we're not. And everything that we're <br />16 doing, I would like that included on any testimony that <br />17 you might present to the council, that everything we've <br />18 done so far, there's been no communication after; all <br />19 <br />of <br />our discussions <br />have <br />been <br />right <br />here; <br />this <br />is where <br />20 <br />it <br />stops, it starts <br />and <br />stops <br />right <br />here, <br />so <br />they know <br />21 that, so there's no back -door deals going on, just so <br />22 they know that our integrity is above reproach. <br />23 CHR.
