I don't know how the rest <br />4 of you feel, but I don't think there should be a public <br />5 hearing just to have pay -- or salaries equal or, you <br />6 know, justified. <br />7 CHR. ONO: You know what? Before we go <br />8 any further, Ms. Self has spent time on this issue, <br />9 too, I think, as well as Bill has. So, Amy, would you <br />10 share, you know, what you've been working on -- on this <br />11 also. <br />12 MS. SELF: Yes. I understand what you're <br />13 saying, Milton. And you guys already have public <br />14 meetings. You're required to under Sunshine Law. And <br />15 that's what you did when you made the decision to set <br />16 the salaries. So it's always been an open process. It <br />17 has to be by Sunshine Law. So, I don't know that it <br />18 would accomplish any more than what you accomplish by <br />19 complying with Sunshine Law. <br />20 Another thing that I pointed out to <br />21 Council Member Lee Loy is that there is a conflict <br />22 between what the Charter says and what subsection (f) of <br />23 her proposed Charter amendment says because, under her <br />24 section, it would require a two-thirds vote to approve <br />25 any salary that is increased or decreased by more than <br />ISLAND COURT REPORTING & TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES <br />(808) 933-9800 <br />
