Page 21
Commission asking for information from the HR
Department, so that you can formalize your questions
for when the discussion comes up.
MR. DOW: Thank you.
MS. SELF: But one thing that Bill was
mentioning is under Section 13-28 of the Charter --
this is what gives the authority to the Commission,
right? So if you look at subsection (d), the
responsibility this Commission has is to review "and
compensate all county elected officials and appointed
directors and deputy directors so that their total
salaries and benefits have a reasonable relationship to
compensation in the public and private sectors. The
salary commission shall consult with those boards and
commissions which have appointing authority for
department heads." Those would be like Police
Commission, Fire Commission.
MR. FRATINARDO: So, question, Amy. When we
first started out, my question was -- when I see the
rules, I looked through here, and I was like, well,
what's the formula for awarding the pay to these
particular positions? So you just stated that rule.
So we can add the formula of how we're going to come up
with compensating these people?
MS. SELF: Yes.
ISLAND COURT REPORTING & TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES
(808) 933-9800
