Call to Order – 10:06am by Chair Henry Silva <br /> <br />II. Approval of minutes from February 14, 2013 meeting – No objections to <br />minutes, minutes adopted <br /> <br />III. Tier II project report – John Peard reported that Tier II ad was put in the <br />Hawaii Tribune Herald and West Hawaii Today. Denise Laitinen, who is very <br />knowledgeable with Social Media, gave us an overview of how social media <br />can assist us to get the word out about Tier II reporting. We discussed the <br />possibility of creating a committee to look into this possibility. <br /> <br />IV. School labs and chemicals update – addition to school inspection form. Henry <br />Silva stated that we are in the process of performing inspections at the schools <br />for hazmat chemicals. He suggested that we could possibly have the HFD <br />hazmat team assist with this and do a radiological sweep of the schools. He <br />also mentioned that there was at least one case on the mainland that <br />radiological substances were found while performing these inspections. <br />Darryl Oliveira stated that he would assist to facilitate if something is found in <br />the schools. A suggestion was made to create a committee to help address this <br />issue. Travis Hiramoto is assisting with the forms that we may be able to use <br />for these inspections. EPA also recognizes the need for school clean up. <br /> <br />V. County reports: <br /> Civil Defense – CD-1 Darryl Oliveira stated that we have partnered with <br />PGV officials to create a response guideline to incidents at their facility. <br />There was an incident that occurred on 3/13/13 at the PGV facility. An <br />AAR was done and some recommendations and changes were made. We <br />are currently using EPA exposure guidelines for our actions taken. We are <br />also looking into increasing our modeling capabilities. Other <br />recommended changes were to call 911 instead of the non-emergency line. <br /> Darryl also informed us that hurricane season is upon us and that they just <br /> had completed an exercise, Makani Pahili, to evaluate our response <br /> capabilities. <br /> <br />
