I’ve worked with John Ray, I’ve argued <br />and fought with him over certain issues. He’s a process oriented person that’s clear thinking <br />and very fair minded. And I like the way he ran his committees and so it was just simply my <br />way of getting out there. So back to this. <br />HERKES: Do you want a motion? I’d like to do an outright election today. <br />SANTANGELO: Okay, we have a motion to do an outright election. Do we have a second: <br />RAY: I’ll second for discussion. <br />SANTANGELO: Okay, open for discussion. We’ll take one at a time. If no discussion, call for <br />the question. <br />IRVINE: I think everybody should be comfortable with this before we do it. <br />SANTANGELO: That’s what the discussion is for. Anybody else have any input? Are we ready <br />for the question? All those in favor say Aye. <br />ALL: AYE. <br />SANTANGELO: Opposed? Okay, we are now open for nominations for Chair. I think I’ve made <br />it clear where it’s at, so is there anyone who would like to make a motion? As Chair, I don’t <br />know if I can make a motion. <br />HERKES: I nominate John Ray. <br />SANTANGELO: We have a nomination for John Ray as Chair. Do we have a second? Any <br />other nominations? All those in favor say "Aye". <br />ALL: AYE. <br />SANTANGELO: It should be just unanimous. Thank you very much. Vice Chair. <br />HERKES: Do we move to close the nomination? Can I make another motion? I make a motion <br />to cast a unanimous ballot for John Ray for Chairman. <br />ALONZO: Second. <br />SANTANGELO: Then we have to vote on that. All those in favor say "Aye" <br />ALL: AYE. <br />SANTANGELO: Opposed? Thank you very much. One thing I want to add, so that it would be <br />out here, when I talked to Roland, he had no problem with what just happened. He did mention <br />that he wouldn’t mind being Vice Chair; there may be other persons, but since I did talk to him <br />and I don’t know if he’d said that to anybody else, I wanted to put that on the table.
