I really feel that it would be nice to have a <br />woman as a second person on there just because it’s important to me, and Roland is also very <br />closely aligned with the administration. <br />SANTANGELO: Would you be willing to serve as Vice Chair? <br />IRVINE: Yes. <br />SANTANGELO: And we have a second? <br />YOSHIYAMA: Second. <br />SANTANGELO: Now that we have two people, can we openly do that by show of hands or do <br />we have to do a secret ballot type thing? <br />WURDEMAN: Show of hands, but you have to close the nomination. <br />BALOG: I move to close the nomination. <br />YOSHIYAMA: Second. <br />SANTANGELO: Okay, all those in favor say. "Aye". <br />ALL: AYE. <br />SANTANGELO: Contrary minded? Then lets take it as it was presented. We have Roland <br />Higashi, who has been nominated as Vice Chair. All those in favor, please raise your right <br />hand. I see six (Alonzo, Balog, Bess, Kurozawa, Martin and Yoshiyama). Those in favor of Sue <br />Irvine, please raise your right hand. It’s four (Herkes, Irvine, Ray and Santangelo). It’s six to <br />four. Roland will be the Vice Chair. Thank you very much. <br />RAY: Proceeding on the Agenda. Item C – Consideration for Commission’s Budget <br />Requirements for various time periods. I feel like we’re a little bit over our head here without <br />having any background on what our limitations, or possibilities are, what’s kind of normal or <br />been spent in the past. <br />LEGASPI: Maybe you can defer that until you get to Section D, then, whether you want an <br />outside attorney. <br />RAY: Well, all these budget items, to me we need to look at those in detail in terms of our own <br />expenses to get a sense of the duties of a commission attorney.
