Do I have a motion to approve? <br />BESS: I move that we accept the language as proposed except that in our last meeting, we provided for <br />the Office of Management. Is that correct? Rather than Department of Management? <br />RAY: I don’t believe so. We discussed it. <br />BESS: All right. I move that we accept the language as proposed with the amendment of Office of <br />Management rather than Department of Management. <br />HIGASHI: Second. <br />SANTANGELO: Point of order, Mr. Chairman. <br />RAY: Yes, I think we need to move the motion forward first. <br />BESS: All right, I’ll move. <br />SANTANGELO: Second. <br />BESS: I’d like to move to amend the title of the Department of Management and change that to Office <br />of Management. <br />HIGASHI: Second. <br />IRVINE: Steve, can you give us your reasoning. Is this the Civil Service thing? <br />BESS: Pardon me? <br />IRVINE: Is this Civil Service? <br />BESS: No, it’s not based on Civil Service. It’s just that I know that we received a lot of testimony saying <br />are we creating another department here, and is this an increase in government. And maybe it makes it <br />more palatable to the public, and that’s why I’m suggesting that that be the case. <br />RAY: Other discussion? Marni. <br />HERKES: There’s no language in here on outcomes and measurement of performance. There’s <br />evaluation. It may be a little late to bring that up now.
