HAITSUKA: Let's move on to New Business. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />FIRST READING OF THE FOLLOWING CHARTER AMENDMENTS: <br />Please Note: 213'd majority vote of the entire commission is required for CA -37 and CA -38 to be considered. <br />CA -37 NAME CHANGE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT <br />Amends Article VI, Chapter 8, Sections 6 -8.1, 6 -8.2, and 6 -8.3. Replaces all references <br />to "research and development" with "economic development." Additionally replaces <br />"improvement of the county community" with "the economic viability and well being of <br />the county community" in Section 6.8.3. <br />Postponed: January 21, 2010 <br />CHR. HAITSUKA: This proposed amendment was submitted after our October 31, 2009 <br />deadline, so it requires a 2/3 rd majority vote of the entire Commission. Do I have a <br />motion to move CA -37 forward for first reading? <br />Mr. Nahale -a moved to consider CA -37 for <br />first reading. Seconded by Mr. Shumway. <br />CHR.
