WORK PLAN PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION <br /> By Patricia Poppe and David Fuertes <br /> Fuertes continued to discuss the mission statement and its <br /> need to be broad. He reminded commission members to look ten <br /> years down the road and see what the County' s ultimate goals <br /> should be. <br /> Poppe suggests we question how the Charter works and <br /> discover its strengths and weaknesses , the key factor being to <br /> insure voters understand everything. We should continue our <br /> self-education program. <br /> Bethea suggested getting to know other systems as well as <br /> our own and questioning whether we should retail our present <br /> form of government or change it . <br /> Cushnie suggested this mission statement : "We are here to <br /> provide through the Charter the structure necessary to allow the <br /> County of Hawaii to meet the challenging needs of our peole , <br /> with efficiency and sensitivity. " She noted it was up to us to <br /> provide the legal structure and verbage when working on the <br /> Charter revision. <br /> Omanaka stressed the importance of having as many <br /> departmental and outside presentations as possible. <br /> L' Orange suggested discussing time frames to enable the <br /> review commission to "fit in" as much as possible . <br /> VIII . SETTING OF NEXT MEETING <br /> The next meeting is scheduled for March 8th at 3 : 30 p.m. <br /> in the Liquor Commission conference room. <br /> Members were reminded to work on a mission statement in <br /> preparation for discussion. <br /> IX.
